Getting WhatsApp templates approved: a checklist

Common reasons templates are rejected and how to write ones that pass on the first try.

Be specific and truthful

Say what the message is about and who it is from. Vague text, misleading claims or content that does not match the category are common reasons for rejection.

Use variables carefully

Give every variable a realistic example. Do not put two variables next to each other, and keep enough fixed words around them so the message still makes sense.

Pick the right category

If a message promotes something, submit it as marketing. Meta can reclassify a template that reads like an offer, which changes what it costs.

If it is rejected

Read the reason, edit and resubmit. The Templates page in WhatsCommerce shows Meta’s reason and how to fix it.
